Case study: Dorchester-on-Thames, Oxfordshire

We completed a full re-thatch of 4 terraced cottages on the High Street in Dorchester-on-Thames. The thatch was completed in combed wheat reed with a cut block pattern ridge.

The thatch was at the end of its lifespan and gulleys were beginning to form across the coat-work. We stripped the thatch back to a suitable thickness and applied a new top-coat. We also provided a new ridge on a thatched extension on one of the properties.

“I had the privilege of seeing the ancient art of thatching practiced first-hand by a conscientious and committed craftsman, and I learned something as well. For me, it was a great experience. Even in the damp grey fading light of Wednesday afternoon, your work is stunning!”
